TOUR LOCATION: 800 Towbin Avenue, Lakewood. This is at the Northern Recycling Center of Ocean County. The facility is operated by Waste Management. Waste Management owns and/or operates NUMEROUS other sites in the US.

DIRECTIONS: 30 minutes from Holmdel/Middletown area. (2 miles off the Garden State Parkway). Each community may have small differences, but probably has a similar recycling process as that used by Middletown..

Middletown curb recycling is carted to the Tinton Falls Transfer Station, and then is carted to a facility owned & operated by Waste Management in Newark, NJ. A video of the Newark operation is at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OcggQBbssqM

The Lakewood Waste Management facility is easier to reach than Newark; also, glass-enclosed platforms and corridors provide safe and comfortable public tours.
